Royal Wedding
Why are so many people so deeply attracted to the royal wedding? Is it a desire for our own happiness? Is it to see all the fancy attire and ceremony? Is it an opportunity for you to live vicariously through them? Is it simply a matter of us being curious and/or nosy?
#RoyalWedding has been trending on Twitter for a couple of days and it is plastered all over the television. Do you think this is really necessary? If sharing in their love and joy is your reason for watching, then I find it wonderful. But, I think far too many people want to watch just out of nosiness. If those watching are truly honoring the beautiful bride and groom, then it is beautiful and amazing. But, when they are just putting the bride and groom under scrutiny, then it is unacceptable.
So, if you are watching today, ask yourself why. And, then if you are truly honoring this beautiful couple and wishing them well, I honor you. But, if you are just being nosy, be honest with yourself and turn away from it and focus on what is truly important to you.
Love is divine and should always be honored and not made a spectacle of by those who do not honor it.

Everything Spiritual
Mmmm...thankful for the washer and dryer...apologetic to the clothes for leaving them in the washer yesterday and now having to rewash them. The dryer is oh so patiently waiting for me to move those clothes from the washer to its warm interior :) I put it on my list of things to do to.

Your Nature - quote by Dr. Wayne Dyer
"Pursing status stops the natural flow of Divine Energy to your independent mind...What's [your] own nature if [you] have no outside forces telling [you] who or what [you] should be?"

Remember Those Most Important to You
It is so important to remember those closest to you and most important to you. We have a habit of making their birthday's special, but how often do we make the average day special? I suppose if we make the average day special, that means we make their birthdays extra special. Hmmmm....
Happy Birthday to my Beloved.
Your smile brightens the day
It shines light for others to see
Your laugh brightens the world
It is a guiding signal for others to hear
Your love warms those you encounter
It heals daily wounds they may not recognize
Your compassion teaches those willing
It offers a helping hand to the lost
Your inner light shines brightly filling the world
with laugther, love and compassion

Sharing Spiritual Views
This past weekend my husband and I had breakfast with a dear friend of mine and her husband. She and I became friends what seems like eons ago now.....oh so many years ago in high school. We lost touch most of the years after high school, but this past year something (God, the Divine, the Universe) reconnected us and it seemed as though we had never lost one another.
Anyway, I think many of us could agree that having discussions about one's spiritual beliefs and/or religious beliefs can be a dangerous area to tread into if your beliefs are not the same. I just wanted to share that when we love each other enough, trust each other enough, have compassion for each other, and respect one another those conversations can take place. Even more fascinating is what we can learn from one another if we are only open to listening. We still may not agree, but how wonderful to look at something from a different perspective...a different possibility.
We are spiritual beings, but while we are having this human experience we certainly don't know it all....there is no way for us to be 100% certain that our thinking is right. Instead, trust in yourself, trust the Divine within you, and be loving and compassionate towards others!
Hugs to you all today and an open mind to everyone's beliefs.

The Door Opens
Today I was sitting at my desk taking a few notes after going on a shamanic journey. I was writing about the teacher I had encountered and the discussion we had. Suddenly the door right by my desk starts to open. The air had not kicked on or off...nothing that I could tell changed in the room, but the door opened about one to two inches. It had remained shut throughout my entire yoga practice this morning and my shamanic journey, but "suddenly" as I am taking notes it opens. Hmmmm....I have a dilemma that I am currently trying to work out and now I see the door opening..........symbolism? Something to ponder and be "open" to :-)

Kitty Pondering :)
A couple of weeks ago my husband and I took our youngest to a labyrinth. He actually walked through to the center by following the path - of course, he will only be four years old next week so after reaching the center he took off skipping and laughing. Ah, what a great time for him!
While we were there we encountered a woman we had never met before. We all felt drawn to her for some reason. Our young son walked over to her as my husband and I worked our way back out of the labyrinth. He started a conversation with her. It was quite precious. As we exited the labyrinth we stopped to talk to her. The area we currently live in is not very open to our spiritual path and/or beliefs; therefore we were amazed to encounter someone who was orgininally from our area, but who had spent 25+ years living in India on her own spiritual journey. She spoke of many things we have interest in understanding better, inviting into our lives, and sharing with others. Yet, our spiritual path includes many traditions from Huna to Buddhism to Christianity to Hinduism to Native American and beyond.
We will see her again? I am unsure. But, the gift her presence gave us that day was simply her telling us, "I am so glad you are here." I am not sure we believe she means "here" to be the location we are in so much as that we are "here" alive in this time and sharing our experiences, knowledge and love with others.
This amazing, yet eccentric, woman has a project in our community she has started where she captures feral cats, has them spayed or neutered, then returns them to where she found them. She is trying to keep the streets of our town from being overrun with stray cats - yet, she does not want to see these creatures have their lives taken. They should have the chance to live out their lives just like you and I.
So, ponder today....what might you learn from an encounter with a stranger?...do you allow others to live their lives?...how do you give back to your community?...what can make you smile today?

Spiritual Smiles
Photo from Creative Commons by mattlemmon
Have you had a check-up lately?
Have you ever considered getting your teeth cleaned as spiritual? Well, it truly is. It is important to keep the teeth healthy. They deserve your attention and appreciation too. They work hard chewing your food so it is more easily digestable; thereby nurishing your body. Remember the body is the temple and your vehicle for traversing through this world.
Today, remember to thank your teeth (and perhaps your dentist) for helping you live a full life.

Sita is considered to have been Ram's queen.

Feeling Stumped
Sometimes we just get stuck. We can't seem to come up with anything creative. Maybe we are looking for a way to solve a problem or we have an article to write or a presentation to put together for our job. Yet, nothing comes to us!!! What do we do? Often, we just get frustrated - maybe even stress ourselves as we put more and more pressure on for accomplishing our task. Instead, why don't we take a break. Go for a walk, meditate, do a little yoga, get a cup of tea, call a friend, listen to some music. There are a variety of ways to remove ourselves from the blank state we feel we are in. If we remove the pressure, we can listen...listen to what is inside of us. If we truly listen, and release the pressure, we will find the inspiration and creativity that we are looking for. Don't second guess it...just go with what comes to us. We can always adjust it later if it needs tweaking in regards to our project, but what comes to us initially is very important - so listen.

How to Change
Maybe you want things in your life to change. Great! How do you do that? On one hand it is simple - change yourself and everything else will change. On the other hand changing yourself may be extremely challenging. But, no matter, if you want your life to change, you have to change you before you see changes occur within your life. It may be a difficult challenge, but it can have a beautiful ending. Consider the catepillar...going into the cocoon...transforming into a beautiful butterfly!

Where To Look For Enlightenment
Where to Look For Enlightenment
"Where shall I look for enlightenment?"
"Here."
"When will it happen?"
"It is happening right now."
"Then why don't I experience it?"
"Because you do not look."
"What should I look for?"
"Nothing, just look."
"At what?"
"Anything your eyes alight upon."
"Must I look in a special kind of way?"
"No. The ordinary way will do."
"But don't I always look the ordinary way?"
"But don't I always look the ordinary way?"
"No."
"Why ever not?"
"Because to look you must be here. You're mostly somewhere else."
