What Surrounds You? Part 1

Photo from PhotoExpress - Gary

Do you live or work in a big city?  Do you live or work near the beauty nature has to share?  Either way it is so important to realize that many do.  Many people, animals, trees, plants, etc. live crammed into concreted walls and streets.  Living so closely with so many people gives one ample opportunity to share love, friendship, and compassion for others.  Yet, far too many rush through the day, pushing and shoving other people, turning from the beggar on the street, yelling at the cashier at the coffee shop, fighting to get the next cab.  I want you to stop in the middle of the busy sidewalk.  Look around.  Be aware of what is going on around you.  Open a door for someone.  Give the beggar a few dollars (it doesn’t matter what he/she chooses to do with it – what matters is that you shared).  Smile at the cashier.  Leave earlier so you won’t feel so rushed to get the next cab.
You may be surrounded by tall buildings and concrete sidewalks, but if you take the time to stop and look, you can find beauty in all of it.  Yes, it is true that sometimes you will have to look harder to find such beauty, but it is there because it is inside of you and everyone and everything around you if only everyone would open to it and share it.
